Coding program for Girls grades 5-8.

For the fourth year, JerseySTEM is hosting a Girls who Code program for girls Grades 5- 8

Girls meet once a week for 2 hours, learn a programing language, participate in competitions and have the opportunity to apply for a summer immersion program in a partner-company in the area.

Girls also participate in a Community project developing an App and entering in various STEM competitions.

Participants of the program enjoy the following benefits:
Weekly meeting in a small Girls only setting
Participation in Field Trips to STEM destinations
The Opportunity to take leadership roles

KidWind

  • Grades: 4-12

  • Parent contribution: 1 hour/week office work

  • Get students excited about the promise and opportunities of renewable energy—specifically wind power—and its relationship to global climate change.

  • Foster opportunities for students to build, test, explore, and understand wind energy technology at a manageable scale.

  • Get students—particularly girls and underrepresented populations—excited about careers in STEM fields related to renewable energy.

  • Build capacity of teachers, coaches, and other educators to better understand wind energy technology and development, as well as its promise and limitations.

  • Connect students to mentors and role models in the renewable energy industry.

Each year middle school students embark on a transformative experience as they ask and answer the question: How can we make the world a better place?

STEM Internships

Junior and Senior Students are invited to apply for STEM internships in local companies to build real world experience develop an informed opinion on possible career paths.

STEM Study Groups

JerseySTEM can provide a nurturing support network where students can receive support from their peers or from older students on all STEM-related topics.
